Pioneer has released a new firmware for the DVR-108 series. The new firmware release brings the drive up to version 1.18 from the previous 1.14 firmware. The firmware mainly increases the burning compatability for new 16x media and can be downloaded here.

What's new in this version 1.18:
* Support 16x writing on New 16x DVD-R Media
* 16x writing BeALL/CMC/Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation(Verbatim)/Prodisc/TDK)
* 12x writing Fuji Film/Maxell/SONY/Taiyo-Yuden
* Support 16x writing on New 16x +R Media
* 16x writing CMC/Prodisc/TDK)
* 12x writing Maxell/Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation(Verbatim)/Philips/RITEK/SONY/Taiyo-Yuden(That's) )
* Support 8x writing on New 8x DVD-R Media AMC/LEADDATA/LGE/NANYA/Optodisc/Prodisc)
* DVD-R/RW/+R/+RW Writability Improvement
* CD-R Writability Improvement
* DVD Playability Improvement
* CD Playability Improvement

Firmware Update Instructions
1. Download the update package.

2. Remove any media from the drive.
If a disc is present in the drive, the update cannot proceed.

3. Quit any programs running on the computer.

4. Double-click on the update program.

5. Click on the Install button.
To save the file to a different directory, click on browse.


6. Choose whether to update the drives simultaneously or each drive individually.

All Drives: Click on Yes to update all connected drives then skip to Step 8.
Individual Drives: Click on No to update the drives individually then continue with Step 7.

7. Choose whether to update the listed drive.



As each drive is shown in the message box, choose 'YES' or 'NO' to update the device.

WARNING: Do NOT perform any other operations during the update(s)!

8. Monitor the firmware update progress.
The following window appears after the update process begins.



9. Confirm that each drive's firmware is updated.
After the update is complete, the drive(s) firmware version is displayed on-screen.

10. Click on 'OK' to finish the upgrade process and close the window.
